Stance is all about the posture that you are going to take from swinging right through to hitting that golf ball, but you have to have the correct stance if you want to enjoy a game of golf with all the right swings and follow through. The shoulders, feet, top end of club and arms are the parts that need to be positioned in the right way when finding the right stance.
You need to stand upright with your feet together. Make sure your golf club is in the air while you are in this posture.
Then you have to bend to the front just a little bit at your hips and make sure that your hands hang down. Some golfers confuse hanging down your hands and hanging out. Once you hang out your hands, your stance is distorted so make sure you avoid that common mistake.
Your knees need to bend just to a small degree yet still maintain balance so that you have control over your position and the golf club. The trick is to stand in such a way that fifty percent of your weight is in the heels and the other fifty percent is in the balls of your feet. It’s all in the balance.
Now you have to make sure that you have to maintain that position when you are aligning your club head with the ball. The golf ball should be directly at the center of the club face. It is when the golf ball and the club are in the right position that you stand with your feet apart. Preferably the distance between the two feet should be about a shoulder width apart.
The positioning of the ball when you are using this stance will depend on the type of golf club that you are going to use. For example, If you are using a 5-wood, make sure that the ball in somewhere in the center front of your feet. Whereas if you are using drivers or a 3-wood, the golf ball should be placed on the inside of your front feet.
Take note, that you are the one that will be moving and still maintain the right stance. Never move the ball.
Use different golf clubs as you practice until you find one that best suits your stance. There is no productivity when you have the right stance but for the wrong type of golf club.
